New York Yankees Betting Tips, Predictions And Winning Odds

Coming of a 100 win season in 2018, the Yankees came into the 2019 campaign with high expectations, and the opening betting odds reflected that optimism, with opening lines of -125 to win the division, and +600 to win the World Series. Widespread injuries dropped the odds briefly, but their second tier players have kept them on top of the AL East, and the odds to win the World Series have actually dropped to +350 in anticipation of the impending returning of their stars.

New York Yankees – 2019 Squad

In any other year, last season’s Yankees team would’ve been heralded as a huge success. Unfortunately, there was a small problem called the Boston Red Sox, who not only won the division, but knocked the Yankees out of the playoffs in the Division Series. So this offseason, the Yankees went out and got one of the best pitchers in the league in James Paxton, as well as shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and infielder D.J. LeMahieu, and the pieces seemed to be in place for a true challenge to the throne. But then everyone who’s name you knew- Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Didi Gregorious, Luis Severino, C.C. Sabathia, Dellin Bentances, Jacoby Ellsbury- got injured at around the same time, and the belief was that this year was a wash.

But then some of the guys who’s names you didn’t know- Luke Voit, Gio Urshela, Domingo German- stepped up and, lo and behold, the Yankees are in first place in June, and all those injured are on their way back. With a starting 5 of Paxton, Severino, Sabathia, Masahiro Tanaka, and German, and a stacked lineup with fresh legs, the rest of the season looks promising.

Who Owns The New York Yankees?

The team is owned by Yankee Global Enterprises, which is a fancy way of saying the Steinbrenner family. The infamous George Steinbrenner bought the Yankees in 1973 and guided them through years both successful and tumultuous, winning 11 pennants and 7 World Series titles, while also having 20 managers in 23 years (Billy Martin was fired and re-hired five different times.) When he passed in 2010 after a 37-year ownership, control of the Yankees was passed down to his sons Hal and Hank Steinbrenner, who run it to this day. The current General Manager is Brian Cashman, who has led the Yankees to six pennants and four World Series championships in his 19 year tenure.

Who Are The New York Yankees Biggest Rivalries?

With the nickname, “The Greatest Rivalry In All Of Sports” there’s no mistaking the Boston Red Sox as the Yankees biggest enemy. For over 100 years, these two teams have been at it, all the way from the Curse of the Bambino, when the Red Sox sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees and didn’t win a World Series for 86 years after, to the more recent battles in the AL playoffs that have included fightsmiraculous comebacks and a bloody sock.

The Yankees also have a less-fierce, but still bitter in-city rival in the New York Mets. Originally the subway series was between the Yankees and the New York Giants, then Brooklyn Dodgers, but since the inception of the Mets in 1963, it’s been the Mets. The teams met in the 2000 World Series, a matchup won handily by the Yankees, but not without some bat throwing by Roger Clemens at Mike Piazza. The two teams continue to play each other every year in interleague play.

What Are The New York Yankees Highest Player Salaries? How Much Is The Team Worth?

According to Forbes, the Yankees are currently the top 5 most valuable sports franchises in sports, with a value of $4.6 billion. With a new stadium and the most valuable local television package in the MLB, the Yankees have been able to amass revenue from the biggest city in the country at an unrivaled pace. The “Evil Empire” (as rivals like to refer to them) have used that enormous cashflow to continually outbid others for some of the biggest names in free agency, from Reggie Jackson and Dave Winfield to C.C. Sabathia and Jason Giambi. They are always in the top 5 in terms of MLB payroll, coming in third this year with a bill of $207 million, with Giancarlo Stanton topping the salary list at $26 million per year, and Masahiro Tanaka second with $22 million.

What Are The New York Yankees Most Memorable Moments And Greatest Achievements?

Ask any ten fans for their most memorable Yankees moment, and you’ll most likely get ten different answers, The franchise has been around so long, and has had so much success, that coming up with a list is almost impossible. But here are some of the biggest:

New York Yankees Fan Profile

As one of the biggest teams in the world, the Yankees are popular the world over. (It’s hard to walk down the street anywhere in the world and not see someone wearing a Yankees hat.) Throughout the years, they’ve been called many things, most of which are the unprintable names given to them by fans of opposing teams, but the one that’s stuck is The Bronx Bombers, a nod to where the stadium is located and their legacy of fielding big hitting teams.

The Yankees popularity can be seen in their attendance not only at home, where they are always one of the tops in attendance, but on the road as well, where they are always one of the biggest away draws. Whether it’s jealousy or just the competitive spirit, for every die-hard Yankee fan, there are ten that hate the Yankees and their continued success, giving rise to the notion of “The Evil Empire” and any win an opposing team can salvage against New York is extra special.

When they’re at home, however, the Yankees are cheered on by the Bleacher Creatures, a group of season ticket holders in right field who are notoriously loud and merciless to opposing fans and players. The Yankees are also proud to have big name celebrities as fans, including Jay-Z, Billy Crystal, Adam Sandler, Denzel Washington, and President Donald Trump.

Yankee Stadium

The Yankees played at the iconic Yankee Stadium in The Bronx from 1923 until 2008, when they moved into a new Yankee Stadium that was built next door. Located at 161stStreet in The Bronx, directly off the 4 and B/D subway lines, Yankee Stadium brings in every type of New Yorker, from celebrities to blue-collar fans and everyone in between.

The old stadium was affectionately known as The House That Ruth Built as its opening coincided with the prime years of slugger Babe Ruth, and the Yankees won their first World Series during the stadium’s inaugural season. In 2008, the new Yankee Stadium opened with more luxurious amenities that catered to the modern fan, but still with the old-school charm, and Bleacher Creatures, that make it one of the best stadiums in baseball.

The old Yankee Stadium housed the infamous Monument Park, an open air museum directly on the other side of the center field fences. Monument Park contains a collections on monuments, plaques, and retired numbers honoring distinguished members of the Yankees family. When the new stadium opened, Monument Park was moved and expanded into the new home, where it remains one of baseball’s most iconic landmarks.

Famous New York Yankee Legends

Like trying to name the most famous Yankee moments, narrowing down a list of Yankee legends is downright impossible. Throughout their history, a stream of legends have passed through The Bronx, making baseball the game we know today. Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Roger Maris, Don Mattingly, Derek Jeter… and those were just some of the hitters.

These days, new legends are being born in Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, and Didi Gregorious, giving Yankees fans hope for continued success, and Red Sox fans even more to loathe.
