Super Bowl LIV is just a couple of days away and weāve already written about some of the best game bets for the Big game, now letās take a look at the really fun stuff--prop bets. Prop bets can be anything from the amount of yards an individual player will get to the length of time it will take to sing the national anthem to will the coin toss be heads or tails (if thereās one thing in life to remember, itās ātails never failsā). Prop bets take in millions, and are just are a really fun way to get invested, literally and figuratively, in the game.
Letās take a look at some good ones.
San Francisco To Score First (-108)
This prop holds great value. The Chiefs found themselves down early in both of their previous playoff games vs Houston and Tennessee, respectively. That wasnāt an anomaly, as they were ranked 28th in the league in first-quarter scoring defense, and allowed their opponents to score first in 10 of 16 games in the regular season. On the flipside, the Niners were third in the league in first-quarter scoring and have scored first in 12 of 18 games, including the postseason. So yes, the Chiefs tend to start slow but then can pick it up real fast. But for the sake of this bet, we donāt care what they do later, we just need the Niners to score first.
Patrick Mahomes Over 30.5 Rushing Yards (-121)
Mahomes has had 53 rushing yards in each of the past two playoff games, and mobile quarterbacks have been the only real weakness of the 49ers defense. Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray, and Lamar Jackson have all surpassed 31 yards with ease vs the Niners, so this would be a smart play. The Chiefs not having a stud running back just adds to more opportunities for Mahomes to run.
Jimmy Garoppolo Over 19.5 completions (-125)
Jimmy Garoppolo over 29.5 Pass Attempts (-109)
Jimmy G hasnāt been lighting the world on fire during the playoffs, combining for 17 pass attempts and 27 completions ācombined āover their two games. In all fairness to him, he hasnāt had to throw the ball all over the place as the running game has been electric. Neither of those games were very competitive. The Chiefs are obviously a different animal, and if one digs deeper, theyāll see that Garoppolo averaged 29.5 attempts and 20.6 completions a game. One would get you the win, and the other is close enough to bet on.
Kyle Juszczyk Over 12.5 Receiving Yards (+120)
Look for āThe Juiceā to get loose with this prop bet. The Chiefs linebacker corps isnāt the strongest in the league, and look for Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan to exploit that in his playcalling. Juszczyk has seen plenty of targets when the Niners have been in higher-scoring games as this one is predicted to be, and had double-digit receiving yards in three of the last four regular season games. He wasnāt needed in the passing game at all in either Niners playoff game, so expect a little breakout here of at least 13 yards receiving. A great price for this one.
Patrick Mahomes To Score A Touchdown (+350)
Weāre picking this simply because we won on the same bet in the AFC Championship Game when Mahomes scored on an electrifying 27-yard touchdown run. Might as well try to keep that mojo going. Obviously, Mahomes is arguably the best passer of the football in the league, but his legs are dangerous too. When things break down, the defense is usually preoccupied with defending his big offensive weapons, thus leaving him to sneak out of the pocket and run. This is definitely a play to put a wager on.
Those are just a handful of the many, many prop bets available to put money on for this game. Good luck if you follow! And remember, ātails never fails.ā
