The KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship ranks highly on the professional golfing calendar. Indeed, this particular golf championship is deemed one of the most illustrious of all the senior golfing tournaments. In 2020, the Senior PGA Championship celebrated its 81st birthday.

At the behest of legendary golfer Bobby Jones, the very first Senior PGA championship was hosted in Augusta. All participants must be at least 50 years of age to compete in this prestigious tournament, many of whom are some of the most celebrated golfers of all time.

One would be hard pressed to list the Top 12 Senior PGA golfers without conjuring up instant recognition from golf fans. The below listing does not include the Senior British Open or the Senior PGA championship before they were part of the Senior Majors. I will reference those details in a later section.

The Senior Majors

Of the Senior Majors, the first event on the golfing calendar is the Senior PGA Championship in May, followed by the US Senior Open in June, the Senior Players Championship in early July, the Senior British Open in late July, and the Tradition in September. The Senior British Open was not a Champions Tour event before 2003, so all wins that accrued before that date are not counted in the aforementioned listing.

As for the Senior PGA Championship, this golf tournament is the oldest of the 5 Majors in senior golf, with an official money event on the EST (European Senior tour), but since 2007 it has been included as one of the official golfing tournaments with a big purse. Prior to 1980, winners of the Senior PGA Championship were not deemed official PGA Tour Champions.

Among some of the wealthiest golfers who will be competing at senior level are Vijah Singh at $75 million, Ernie Els at $75 million, Sergio Garcia made $70 million, Jim Furyk at $50 million, Gary player at $250 million, Bernhard Langer at $25 million, Colin Montgomerie at $55 million, and Jack Nicklaus at a whopping $320 million.

As far as the PGA Tour Champions is concerned, the money leaders include Bernhard Langer as #1 on the Charles Schwab Cup Money List Rank, Brett Quigley and #2 on the Charles Schwab Cup Money List Rank, and Ernie Els at #3 on the Charles Schwab Cup Money List Rank.
