The Los Angeles Clippers are an NBA team with a disappointing run-of-form, for the most part. This franchise has failed to capitalize on many of the opportunities that have come its way over the years. An inception in 1970, the Los Angeles Clippers were known as the Buffalo Braves. By 1978, the team had moved to San Diego and assumed the name of the LA Clippers. Team performances aside, the LA Clippers have created many NBA superstars over the years.

LA Clippers Hall of Famers

A stream of Hall of Famer's including the likes of Adrian Dantley, Randy Smith, and Bob McAdoo, have left an indelible impression on millions of adoring basketball fans around the world. The inimitable Bill Walton played for the LA Clippers in the 1970s, but it wasn't until recent times that this professional outfit managed to regain their footing among the NBA greats, with the likes of Blake Griffin and Chris Paul.

In my opinion, the top 10 LA Clippers include the likes of:

* Dominique Wilkins
* JJ Reddick
* Jamal Crawford
* Bob McAdoo
* Blake Griffin
* DeAndre Jordan
* Chris Paul
* Elton Brand
* Corey Maggette
* Danny Manning

Notable stars, including the likes of Bill Walton, Baron Davis, Lamar Odom, Lou Williams, Paul Pierce, Ron Harper, Randy Smith, and World B. Free come into contention as LA Clippers superstars. The LA Clippers feature prominently in the 2019/2020 NBA standings. The disrupted season saw the Clippers second behind the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference. The LA Lakers boasted a W – 49, L - 14 record with a .778 win/loss percentage, while the LA Clippers were close in tow with a W – 44, L – 20 record with a .688 win/loss percentage.
It is worth reiterating that the LA Clippers have never won an NBA championship, nor have they won any Conference titles.

LA Clippers Division Championship Titles

However, they've managed to perform exceptionally well during the postseason, with 14 appearances since 1970. Back in 2012/2013, the Los Angeles Clippers were the Division Champions with a record of 56 Wins, 26 Losses, and a .683 win/loss percentage. The next year, the team repeated their heroics with a slightly improved performance of 57 Wins, 25 Losses, with a .695 win/loss percentage.

For the next 5 seasons, it was none other than the Golden State Warriors (GSW) who managed to blow past the competition and deliver exceptional performances in the Pacific Division. In fact, GSW managed to win the NBA Finals 3 times during those 5 years, and they featured in the NBA Finals all 5 times.

The players who made up the winning LA Clippers team in the Pacific Division in 2012/2013 included the following:

* Matt Barnes, Chauncey Billups, Eric Bledsoe, Caron Butler, Jamal Crawford, Willie Green, Blake Griffin, Grant Hill, Ryan Hollins, DeAndre Jordan, Lamar Odom, Chris Paul, DaJuan Summers, Ronny Turiaf, and Maalik Mayns.

At the time, the coach was Vinny Del Negro. They lost the NBA Western Conference first round (2-4) against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The players who made up the winning LA Clippers team in the Pacific Division in 2013/2014 included the following:

* Matt Barnes, Reggie Bullock, Darren Collison, Jamal Crawford, Glen Davis, Jared Dudley, Danny Granger, Willie Green, Blake Griffin, Ryan Hollins, Stephen Jackson, Antawn Jamison, DeAndre Jordan, Darius Morris, Byron Mullens, Chris Paul, JJ Reddick, Hedo Turkoglu, Sasha Vujacic, and Maalik Wayns.

At the time, the team was coached by Doc Rivers. In the 2014 NBA playoffs, the LA Clippers won the NBA Western Conference first-round (4-3) against the Golden State Warriors. They lost the NBA Western Conference semifinals (2-4) against Oklahoma City Thunder.

Clearly, the LA Clippers have a veritable Mount Everest to ascend before they are anywhere near fellow division team, the LA Lakers. The Lakers have made 61+ playoff appearances and boast 16 NBA championships. The good news is that the LA Clippers have everything to play for and everything to gain. According to Forbes, the LA Lakers rank at #2 with a team value of approximately $4.4 billion (February 2020), while the LA Clippers have a team value of $2.6 billion at #6 on the NBA team valuations listing. The Clippers’ owner Steve Ballmer is the wealthiest NBA team owner of them all att well over $52 billion.
